10 Tips To Fight Puffy Eyes

Waking up with swollen eyes is very common, and there are multiple methods to avoid these swellings by Amjad Z. Ahmad, M.D. for example and reduce them as much as possible in the morning. We will tell you everything.

  1. Drink Plenty Of Water

Daily hydration is essential to avoid puffy eyes. Place a bottle of water next to your bed, and feel free to drink if you wake up at night. Puffy eyes are often a sign of fluid retention, so avoid eating too much salt at night or drinking alcohol before bed.

  1. Rinse Your Eyes Under Cold Water

Another effective solution, splash your eyes with cold water. This will promote microcirculation. But that may not be enough.

  1. Use Cold Teaspoons

If the thermal shock is not effective enough, we advise you to keep small teaspoons in your refrigerator. Place a cold spoon on each eye and wait until it warms up to remove it. Repeat the process until your eyes completely deflate.

  1. Buy Saline

Always have saline at home. Parents are familiar with this little salty solution used to blow babies’ noses. Empty the contents of one ampoule into each eye. The serum will moisturize and cleanse your eyes. In case of allergies to dust or bacteria, saline will be very effective.

  1. Use Eye Drops

In a more violent allergy, physiological saline may not be sufficient. You will then be recommended to be prescribed anti-inflammatory eye drops, which will help soothe the allergy symptoms. Pollens are often responsible for the swelling of the eyelids.

  1. Apply Chamomile Compresses

We recommend infusing chamomile in hot water, and dipping compresses in the cup. Once cooled, place the compress on your eyes and let it act for a few minutes. This solution is also effective with a mint infusion or black tea.

  1. Elevate Your Head While Sleeping

It is also important to remember to raise your head when you sleep. This will allow fluids that sit around the eyes overnight to drain better. The head doesn’t need to be too high, just higher than the body.

  1. Prepare A Salt Solution

You can also mix half a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water. Immerse compresses in this solution and apply them to your eyes for about ten minutes. This method is most effective when done in the evening, before going to bed.

  1. Use Rose Water

You will also be advised to buy rose water or cornflower water. These waters have decongestant properties. By spraying a little of these solutions every morning, your eyes will regain radiance and vitality. No more bags under the eyes! You can also find rose or cornflower water compresses that you leave in the refrigerator for a few hours before applying them to your eyes for about ten minutes.

  1. Try Dairy Products

However, if none of these solutions are effective, you can turn to dairy products or Reconstructive Surgery. Soak compresses in fresh milk or a mixture of fresh cream and eggs. Apply these compresses to your eyes for a few minutes. The result might surprise you.
