How To Maintain Heart Health

The World Health Organization (WHO) has a guide with simple tips, new recommendations about daily Aspirin that we can implement in our lives and thus ward off the risks mentioned above, among several other illnesses. We will list these guidelines here. Keep reading!

Do Not Smoke

The first guideline from the WHO to maintain heart health is not to smoke. The reason is that nicotine and other toxic substances in tobacco make the veins and arteries narrower, in addition to stimulating the formation of fatty plaques in them.

In this way, they increase the risk of heart failure, infarction, arrhythmias, and aortic aneurysms. In addition, we must remember all the other evils caused by cigarettes, such as respiratory problems, infertility, osteoporosis, and various types of cancer. According to WHO estimates, smoking kills about 8 million people a year worldwide. The survey by the Ministry of Health points out that 443 Brazilians die per day for the same reason.

Practicing Exercises Is One Of The Ways To Take Care Of Heart Health

The human body needs movement, and therefore, one of the most essential tips for taking care of health is to practice physical exercises. It could be walking, jogging, weight training, dancing, or cycling. The type of exercise doesn’t matter, as long as you don’t sit still! However, before you start, consult a cardiologist to assess your physical conditioning and heart function, especially if the practice of an activity is new in your life.

No exercise should be performed without medical supervision and guidance from a physical educator. Start and move, but do it the right way, so that the results are adequate and healthy.

Stay At The Ideal Weight

One of the advantages of practicing physical activity is that it helps control weight, which is a key point in maintaining heart health. Most cardiovascular diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol, are related to overweight and obese. Ensuring that the Body Mass Index (BMI) does not exceed 25 kg/m² represents a greater chance of not developing any of these conditions. Don’t know how to calculate your BMI? Is easy!

The formula is this: weight/height x-height. That is, if a person weighs 80 kilos and is 1.65 meters tall, by calculation (80 / 1.65 x 1.65), their BMI is 29 kg/m², characterizing overweight. When this number is equal to or greater than 30, the patient is obese.

Control Your Blood Pressure

Blood pressure measurement is a routine exam done by most physicians, as it indicates the general state of health. The most appropriate thing is that the maximum pressure does not exceed 120 mmHg (millimeters of mercury), and the minimum is not below 80 mmHg (the popular 12×8).

You should check the pressure every time you go to the doctor such as CardioCare for example. If he does not take the initiative, it is worth asking him to do so, especially if there is a family history of hypertension. In this situation, control should be intensified from the age of 30.
