Xanax or Etizolam: What to Use?

Xanax is the trade name of the drug known as Alprazolam, and it’s a prescription medication that can help in the treatment of certain conditions caused by the increase of activity of the neurotransmitters of the brain, as well as excessive excitability in the central nervous system.

On the other hand, Etizolam is found to be available on the market under many different brand names, which include the following: Etilaam, Pasadena, and Etizest. It’s a prescription drug that can only be acquired in Italy, Japan, and India as it’s not licensed in the US and in most European countries.

The Similarities of Xanax and Etizolam

Both Xanax and Etizolam are drugs found in the benzodiazepine class, and these are active central nervous system compounds. Benzodiazepines, or benzos as they are commonly called, are known to help in the treatment of various anxiety disorders and insomnia. Benzos are commonly prescribed to individuals and patients that require the aid of this drug. However, since Etizolam isn’t licensed for medical use especially in the US, then it’s difficult for most people in the nation to acquire it. Even though it’s not quite clear how these two drugs work, it’s clear, however, that they do affect the neurotransmitters in the brain.

Common Side Effects Associated With Xanax and Etizolam

Since both Xanax and Etizolam are classified as benzos, they do share a common list of side effects. These adverse effects include the following: weakness, unsteadiness, dizziness, and sedation. Other common side effects when taking either Etizolam products or Xanax include confusion, loss of orientation and balance, sleep disturbances, irritability and aggression, headaches, transient drowsiness, and memory impairment.

The Differences Between Xanax and Etizolam

Albeit similar in more ways than one, Xanax and Etizolam don’t have the same chemical structure. Even though most benzos have a benzene ring combined with a seven-membered diazepine ring, the benzene ring found in Etizolam is swapped with a fused triazole ring and a thiophene ring. As such, even though it’s still technically a benzo, it’s no longer considered as a real benzodiazepine. Furthermore, Xanax is a licensed prescription drug in the US, whereas Etizolam isn’t. Etizolam isn’t scheduled by the DEA as it doesn’t have approval from the FDA because the association doesn’t see it fit for medical use. Xanax, on the other hand, is classified as a Schedule IV substance, which means that it’s not a habit-forming drug, albeit the possibility is still there.

Why People Prefer Etizolam More Than Xanax

Even though it’s easier to obtain Xanax than Etizolam, many still prefer the use of the latter rather than the former. It’s because Etizolam can react in the body after a very short time of consumption or use. However, this particular drug may lead to overdose and addiction, especially after the “high” is experienced.

No matter what you may choose to help treat your anxiety or depression, make sure to always seek medical assistance before jumping the gun. Both Xanax and Etizolam might lead to addiction as the mind might think that the only way to escape your current problems in life is by taking these drugs.
